All Blacktown West Public School students from Kindergarten to Year 6 participate in extra-curricular tasks during class.
All students participate in weekly computer lessons where they create and publish texts on topics being studied in class. They use a variety of programs to extend their publishing and writing skills.
Year 3 and 4 charts
Students studied Blacktown City Council services in class and created charts depicting each service. Students created these charts in Microsoft Word by inserting a picture list object using SmartArt.
Kindergarten writing in Microsoft Word
Kindergarten have learnt to log onto the computers and are practising writing sentences in Microsoft Word.
Year 1 and 2 Gruffalo characters
Year 1 and 2 students wrote about their favourite characters in the book The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. They explained what they most liked about their character. The most popular creature was the mouse.
Face portraits
As part of our KidsMatter program, students created face portraits in Microsoft Paint. Each class discussed ways that they make everyone feel like they belong at Blacktown West Public School and added these ideas to their class posters of their faces.
Moran photography workshop
Students in Year 5 and Year 6 participated in the Moran photography workshop, where they learned photography and camera skills.
